Treat Everyone with Dignity and Respect

Staff are expected to be aware that people may encounter different accessibility barriers. The plan emphasizes asking, "How may I help?" and providing assistance where requested.

Identify, Remove, and Prevent Barriers

Oakwood aims to keep the front and service entrances clear so access to the building remains unobstructed. The plan also calls for alternative communication methods when needed, including reducing background noise, using pen and paper, or reading materials aloud where appropriate. Service animals and support persons are to be accommodated when required.

Communicating the Plan to the Public

Oakwood Transport's accessibility plan is posted on its website. When temporary barriers affect access to services, notice is to be posted at the main entrance of 129 Oakwood Street, Ingersoll, Ontario.

Training

All current staff have received accessibility plan training, and new staff are to receive that training during orientation. The training supports respectful assistance for co-workers, customers, suppliers, and the public.

Review and Monitoring

The plan will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and updated as required. Feedback, including complaints about accessibility in Oakwood's goods and services, may be provided by phone or email and is directed to the Safety Department for timely follow-up.
